It's the perfect opportunity to see if scuba diving is right for you before diving into the full PADI® Open Water Diver course. Here's what you can expect from your first taste of scuba diving!

What is Discover Scuba® Diving? 

Discover Scuba® Diving is a fun, introductory experience designed for beginners who want to try scuba diving in a relaxed and controlled environment. You'll learn the basics of scuba diving, like how to use equipment and communicate underwater, all with the guidance of a certified instructor.

What's involved in a Discover Scuba® Diving experience? 

You don't need any prior experience to take part in a Discover Scuba® Diving experience! Once you have completed your eLearning introduction to scuba diving, we will arrange a date to meet up in the calm, shallow waters of Oysterhaven or Roberts Cove. On the day, we will go through the following:

  • Fitting your equipment: Learn how to use a mask, fins, and tank, and get comfortable with your gear.

  • Safety first: You'll be shown key safety procedures, like equalizing your ears and hand signals for underwater communication.

  • Breathing underwater: A huge highlight for most people—feeling weightless and breathing easily underwater is a surreal experience.

  • Exploring the underwater world: Once you're comfortable, you'll get to experience the beauty of the underwater environment.

  • No experience needed: If you're a complete beginner, this is the perfect way to start without the pressure of committing to a full certification course.

  • Fun and relaxing: The experience is designed to be fun and stress-free, so there's no pressure to be perfect. The practical dive usually lasts around 30 minutes, and you will be receiving bespoke private instruction for the duration of this activity.

What happens after the Discover Scuba® Diving experience? 

If you loved the experience and are eager to dive deeper into the world of scuba diving, you can go on to get your PADI® Open Water Diver certification. This is the next step for those who want to continue exploring the depths, with more in-depth training and certification to dive in a variety of locations worldwide.

  • Prerequisites: None.

  • Total time commitment: 2-3 hours.

  • Minimum age: 10.

  • Cost: €120 - Price includes bespoke private instruction, eLearning, scuba equipment rental, and insurance.

What to bring with you on the day?

  • Swimming gear: Your swimsuit, towel, and a rash vest or t-shirt to wear underneath your wetsuit.

  • Water: Lots of drinking water.

  • Warm clothes: Hat or beanie, and a jacket.

  • Sunscreen: Please remember your sunscreen.
